Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Luggage Restrictions

Luggage Security Notice
As part of current security procedures, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screeners may open your checked luggage. If your suitcase is unlocked, TSA will simply open it and screen it. However, if it is locked and TSA needs to open it, the locks may have to be broken. You may keep your suitcase locked if you prefer. However, the TSA will not be liable for damage caused to locks that must be opened for security reasons. As an alternative to locking your suitcase, you may wish to use standard four- or five-inch cable ties, which can be purchased at a hardware store. These ties can be used to close almost all suitcases with zippers and are easy to remove at your destination. If TSA needs to inspect your suitcase, the screeners will cut the seal and replace it with another seal.
New Security Procedures
All liquids and gels must be packed in your checked baggage. This includes all shampoo, toothpaste, perfume, hair gel, suntan lotion and any other items with similar consistency. Carrying liquids of any sort to the screening checkpoint will cause you delays and the item will most likely be confiscated.
