Germany and Austria Sample Itinerary

Topic: Europe

3 nights Munich, 3 nights Innsbruck, 2 nights Salzburg

Day 1 - Arrive Munich.

Day 2 to Day 3
Starting at the Marienplatz at the heart of the city, you'll enjoy a view of the Frauenkirche, hear the chimes of the Glockenspiel (check times - off-season, the clock does not chime as often) and enjoy a nice variety of shops and restaurants. During the summer, enjoy the Viktualien Market. Stop to see the Olympic Park, where the 1972 Olympics were held, and then continue on to Nymphenburg Castle. A stop at the famous Hofbrauhaus, where locals and tourists enjoy beer, music, and good company completes the Munich experience. (Weekdays are best to enjoy Munich.) Consider a side trip to Dachau, the first of the infamous Nazi camps.

Day 4
Drive to Innsbruck - take the time to stop along the way!

Day 5 to Day 6:
Highlights of this beautiful city include Old Town, The Little Golden Roof, and the opportunity to enjoy the amazing scenery. Innsbruck is a ski town in the winter and hosted the Winter Olympics twice.

Day 7
Drive to Salzburg. If time permits, stop in St. Leonard for a cable-car ride up the mountains.

Day 8 to Day 9
Highlights include St. Peter's Church and Churchyard. Visit areas where "The Sound of Music" was filmed, and also Mozart's birthplace.

Day 9
Depart Munich.
