Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Resort Honeymoons

Topic: Honeymoon

Sandals Montego Bay

How do I know which resort to choose?

There are a variety of resorts, and many now cater to special interests. If you are interested in golf, scuba diving, wind surfing, spas, water-skiing, or even history or fine art, there's a resort out there that is just right for you. Let your Witte Travel agent know what types of activities you're interested in - or even if you just want a beautiful beach to enjoy at your leisure. We'll help you find the right spot for your customized honeymoon.

What's the difference between a hotel and a resort?

Basically, amenities. Both accommodations will offer you a place to stay and likely a restaurant and a pool; but a resort will offer you MORE. Usually more elaborate rooms, more restaurant choices, and a fantastic pool. Resorts also usually have a spa or beauty salon, shopping, a health club, an activities desk, and planned events right on the premises. If you are in a tropical area, resorts often sit right on the beach. In a big city, they are often centrally located. In-room coffee makers, ironing boards, and blow dryers are little extras that some resort rooms offer to make your stay more relaxing. Resorts are also better versed on the art of "pampering" - something many honeymooners enjoy after the excitement of a wedding.

I have a daughter from a previous marriage. I'd like to include her on our honeymoon, but I'd also like some time for just my new wife and me.

Many resorts now offer children's programs. At an "a la carte" resort, these programs have an additional fee, and you can choose the days your child participates. This comes in handy when you want to spend a beach day together or check out the local sights. At a family-oriented all-inclusive resort, the cost of the children's program is already included. This allows the children to join any time of day - and sometimes in the evening. You'll want to look for a program that groups children by age; a 15-year-old has different interests and abilities than a 5-year-old. Some activities in a children's program may include: a treasure hunt, a pizza party, snorkeling or pool games, relay races, ice cream socials, arts and crafts, dance lessons, and time in the activity center - which may have a disco, computer games, or video games. You'll be able to savor some special time alone, and also make unforgettable memories as a family.

Can you help me plan a wedding at a resort?

Yes! Many couples are choosing to get married in an exotic location - some to save on finances, some for something different, and some just to get away from it all. We've helped clients plan wedding honeymoons on the beach in Grand Cayman; at Couples, Sandals, and Swept Away in Jamaica; in Hawaii; and even on cruises! Some resorts include the cost of a basic wedding for free - with additional costs for more elaborate plans. Many resorts have a wedding specialist who can help you make the most of your special day. It's even possible to plan a Disney fairytale wedding! Whether you decide to savor your day with just the two of you, or share it with 200 of your closest friends and relatives, we're here to help.
