Frequently Asked Questions Regarding All-Inclusive Resorts

Topic: Vacation Travel

What does an all-inclusive really include?

A lot! More specifically:
  • Food: All-inclusive packages include all meals and snacks. Many resorts have a variety of restaurant options; a few even have twenty-four hour room service. With all-inclusives, you can choose to eat whatever and as much as you would like. At a "true" all-inclusive, if lobster were on the menu, it would be at no additional cost. (Some resorts that offer both an all-inclusive plan and a non-all-inclusive plan charge extra for premium items; check these resorts carefully for hidden charges.) Also, many resorts have snacks, such as hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza available between meals for your convenience.
  • Drinks: All-inclusive packages include most, if not all, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. This includes soda, juice, coffee/tea, milk, beer, liquor, and some wines. A few resorts may reserve rare and expensive wines and champagnes for an additional cost.
  • Entertainment and Activities: The water sports included are often snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing, and pedal boating. Tennis, beach and/or pool volleyball, workouts, and sometimes golf are also included. Some of the more luxurious resorts also include scuba diving, and water-skiing! Evening entertainment may include nightly theme/variety shows, bands, dancing, games, piano bars, and more!
  • Tipping: Gratuities are already included in the cost of your all-inclusive package. Tipping the waitstaff, maids, and bellmen is not necessary or expected.

What is not included in an all-inclusive?

Some all-inclusive packages do not include motorized water sports such as diving, skiing, jet skiing, and para sailing; however, some do. Your agent will help you decide which resort best serves your interests. Most resorts don't include the cost of off-property sightseeing tours. If you're interested in Beauty Salon services, such as hair styling and manicures, most resorts will charge extra - but again, there are a few that include these luxury items as well.

What about sightseeing?

You'll probably spend most of your time right at your resort - there's so much to see and do there! But, when you do want to enjoy some local sightseeing, most all-inclusive properties have a tour desk right in the hotel lobby. Here, guests can plan a variety of tours such as visiting historical areas, deep-sea fishing, rainforest hikes, and shopping. These tours are at an additional cost and often leave directly from the resort for added convenience.

Can I get married at an all-inclusive resort?

Yes, wedding packages are available at most all-inclusive resorts, and have become increasing popular. Some resorts offer free basic wedding packages with upgrades at an additional cost. Of course, if planning a foreign wedding, it is important to have the proper paperwork in order before travel. Your Witte Travel agent will assist you in obtaining this information. Some resorts also offer group discounts to include wedding party and family members.

How much money should I bring along on an all-inclusive vacation?

With so much included, you won't need to bring a large amount of money. Souvenirs, sightseeing, and spa services are the most common extra expenses. Credit cards are accepted for most tours, as well as at large gift shops and shopping areas. You will want cash for local "straw market" shopping, etc.

Who can visit all-inclusive resorts?

There is an all-inclusive that is just right for you! Some resorts cater to different age groups and activity choices. Other resorts are for couples only or do not allow children under the age of 16. There are also resorts that cater to families. Your Witte Travel agent can help you find the resort that best suits your interests and needs!

Why choose an all-inclusive vacation?

Staying at an all-inclusive resort offers a variety of advantages: in addition to knowing ahead of time what you'll be spending, you have the opportunity to try a variety of activities, enjoy excellent restaurants, and never have to leave your resort. If you want a relaxing, stress-free and planning-free getaway to a hot destination, an all-inclusive vacation may be right for you. If your vacation ideal is having everything at your fingertips and being able to relax or enjoy a variety of activities without worrying about your budget, consider trying an all-inclusive vacation!
