Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Other Destinations
Topic: Vacation Travel
I'd like to plan a trip to Australia; can you book that?
Witte Travel can book any destination. We have highlighted a few of our specialties on our web-site, but we also have more! A few of our agents have studied Australia, become Aussie Specialists, and have traveled there themselves. While we can't highlight every destination on our web-site, our experts would be happy to help you with your adventure "down under".
I've noticed you don't have every tour and cruise company on your web-site. Why is that?
At Witte Travel, we like to stick with a select group of travel companies for a variety of reasons that benefit you. There are so many companies operating, we want to be certain the company we're booking for you is reputable. When we work closely with a few companies, rather than the thousands that are available, we establish a relationship that helps our agents become better educated, provides assistance to you if there's a problem, and sometimes offers special discounts or values we can pass along to our customers. Not all of our Preferred Suppliers are listed - check with your Witte Travel agent if you're interested in a company you don't see!
I'd like to plan ahead for my trip, but don't have all the money now. Can you help?
With most cruise, tour, or independent packages you need only put down a small deposit to hold your space. Then, 1 - 2 months prior to your trip, you'll have your final payment date. In the meantime, you can make payments to Witte Travel or you can wait until your final payment date and pay the rest of the package in full. Of course, if you book at the last minute, you'll likely have to pay the full amount when you book the package.
I've noticed a lot of travel and cruise companies offer insurance; is it really necessary?
YES! Unfortunately, you can't plan for everything. With most cruise and vacation packages, if you have to cancel a few days before your trip - even for a medical emergency - you will lose the entire cost of your vacation! The stories are sad, but true; the groom who shattered his foot 3 days before the wedding while moving furniture. They still went, but he had to use a wheelchair which he wasn't accustomed to. If they had purchased the insurance, they could have cancelled their trip and rescheduled when he was "back on his feet." Or the family who booked a trip to Aruba two weeks ahead of time; "what can happen"? they asked. The children could get the chicken pox! They weren't able to leave the country, and lost over $4000.00. Depending on the trip protection you purchase, you usually receive other extras too: baggage insurance, trip interruption insurance, medical insurance, etc. Your agent can give you more details!
But I already have medical insurance - why would I want more?
Check with your insurance provider. Some insurance companies don't cover you out of the U.S. This means if you break your wrist while playing beach volleyball or fall down the steps of a beautiful cathedral, you could be in for some hefty doctors' bills! Some trip protection plans even offer referrals and translators for your medical emergency.
