Company History

Henry I. Witte
Witte Travel and Tours was established in 1975 in the basement of Henry I. (Henk) Witte's home in Ada, Michigan. Originally, the company was limited to arranging performance tours for choirs, bands and orchestras traveling to Europe. In the late 70's and early 80's, the demand for special interest tours began to increase - first for groups wanting to visit sites associated with their Churches' heritage and later for those who wanted to experience the art, history and culture of different regions and countries. At the same time, Witte Travel added a retail division to assist individual vacation and corporate travelers.
Today, in addition to a complete line of retail services, Witte Travel offers a variety of custom-designed tours for performing and special interest groups focusing on art, architecture, famous gardens, religious, historical and/or cultural heritage and student study programs. The company, which has maintained its strong focus on Europe, offers individual
and group travel to destinations throughout the U.S. and around the world. Still privately owned and operated, Witte Travel now has more than 40 people on staff at its headquarters in Grand Rapids.
