Historical Footprints Across Southern France
The south of France around the Mediterranean (roughly from Toulouse to Nice) has long been a crossroads of natural beauty and culture. From ancient Romans to medieval troubadours, from Cathars to early French Protestants, from popes to renowned artists, people have flocked to “le Midi.” Join host Dr. Karin Maag for a ten-day excursion to meet the people who called this land home, hear their stories, and visit the sites that shaped them. Tour highlights include the walled city of Aigues-Mortes; wonderfully preserved Roman ruins in Arles and Nîmes, as well as the Roman aqueduct known as the Pont du Gard; sites associated with Paul Cézanne and Vincent van Gogh; and the enchanting French Riviera. This tour is sponsored by the Calvin University Alumni Association and Calvin Academy for Lifelong Learning (CALL) in partnership with Witte Travel & Tours. As with all CALL programming, it is open to anyone who enjoys lifelong learning experiences.
